A voiceover artist uses their voice to communicate to people effectively most times using various emotions to convey messages to audience.
As a beginner voiceover artist here are 5 thing to guide you on your journey:
1) Learn how to pronounce words properly: Develop the skill of enunciation and speaking clearly, this helps for better understanding. Everyday take a step to correct that word you've been pronouncing wrongly, correct that stress sound, pronounce the vowel and consonant words correctly and if you speak another language make sure to master the language very well.
2) Practice, practice, practice: Practice makes perfect. You want to good in voice overs practice everyday. Look up scripts and read the alone, read out that text message your friend sent and try to hit the right emotions, observing question marks, full stop, other punctuation marks, their rising and falling tone.
3) Listen: Having a good listening skill as a voice over artist cannot be over emphasized. You have to listen to other voice over artist and understand tones, emotions, pacing and so on. When you listen you are able to observe, make corrections, learn and become better. So search for voice over artist, listen to how they deliver every script, learn and practice your observations.

4) Implementation: You've learnt, practiced and listened, now you need to implement. Start recording, start with what you have, your phone and ear piece, record yourself, send to people, friends, mentors, coach. Tell them to rate, criticize or give corrections. That way you'll improve in your skill. Remember voiceover is not just about you, it's the connection you are able to make with the other person who is listening. So let others tell you what they observe and see if your intended message was delivered.
5) Find a niche: Just like most occupations, voice over also has a niche. There are commercials, IVR(interactive voice response), narration, animation, audio books, documentary.
Which works well for you? Which do you believe you can do better?
When you've figured that out, focus on that niche and become better at it as a beginner.
